Catherine Zeta-Jones' Alleged Stalker Faces The Judge
Oscar winner CATHERINE ZETA-JONES' alleged stalker, 32-year-old DAWNETTE RENEE KNIGHT, heads to court today to face a judge on one charge of stalking and 24 counts of making a terrorist threat. Tonight on ET, we go to the courthouse to bring you the latest on the sensational case.
Knight, a student from Florida, claims she had a two-year affair with Zeta-Jones' husband of nearly four years, actor MICHAEL DOUGLAS, and that it began in 2002 after they met at a party in Miami. Knight has allegedly sent threatening letters to Zeta-Jones and has repeatedly attempted to contact Douglas.
On June 3, Knight was arrested and on June 17, she pleaded not guilty to felony charges. She is currently being held in a Los Angeles jail on $1 million bail. She has been accused of both calling Zeta-Jones as well as sending her intimidating letters in the last few months. A lawyer for Knight recently said that his client "denies that she ever threatened" the actress.
Knight has also claimed Douglas gave her a room in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas while Catherine was filming 'Intolerable Cruelty' and that he set her up in a Beverly Hills apartment. A spokesperson for the 59-year-old 'Fatal Attraction' star has called the accusations "preposterous."
