U.S. Open kids' event to serve up pop star JoJo
Chart-topping R&B stylist JoJo - at 13, still a kid herself - has been tapped as a headliner for Arthur Ashe Kids' Day Aug. 28 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing.
"I'm a huge tennis fan and ... I love seeing the young generation of American players like Andy Rodd*ck," she said last week, during a break from hosting duties on MTV's "TRL."
JoJo's single "Leave (Get Out)" has been on the charts 11 weeks and is No. 3 on the Billboard Top 40 singles chart.
As already announced, MTV's Quddus will host Kids' Day, which has helped break acts including Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Lil' Bow Wow and Vanessa Carlton.
The ninth annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, a day-long festival of tennis activities, games, entertainment and clinics, is the official kickoff for the U.S. Open, which runs Aug. 30 to Sept. 12. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster (866-OPEN-TIX), usopen.org or at the USTA National Tennis Center box office.
