JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE JOINS MEMPHIS TO CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROCK 'N' ROLL
Memphis announced today that Justin Timberlake will participate in the celebration surrounding the 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll. The daylong commemoration will take place at Sun Studio in Memphis on July 5, 2004 -- 50 years to the day when Elvis recorded "That's All Right," the song that is considered the big bang of rock 'n' roll. "We are thrilled that Justin is coming home to join us as we celebrate this musical milestone," said Kevin Kane, President of the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau. "He is already a world-renowned artist, and his work continues to extend Memphis' musical influence to the next generation."
Justin is serving as one of Memphis' Musical Ambassadors for the year to help the city highlight the 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll. He will join Scotty Moore, Isaac Hayes and Sam the Sham in the Global Moment in Time -- a moment (12 noon ET on July 5) at which radio stations around the world will simultaneously play "That's All Right." The original recording will be available live via satellite from Sun Studio. This will hopefully mark the largest playing of a single song at the same moment in history. An all-day concert and outdoor festival featuring numerous artists will follow this moment.
